I’m afraid to use insulin

You’re not alone. It’s normal to feel worried or anxious about insulin.

Remember that insulin is a natural hormone that used to be automatically produced by your pancreas. Your pancreas made just enough insulin at just the right time to keep your blood sugars in a safe range. Diabetes prevents the pancreas from functioning normally.

Since insulin was discovered in 1921, it has been a life-saving medication for people with diabetes. Insulin is the main hormone that lowers blood sugars, and keeps blood sugars in a safe range to prevent complications of the eyes, nerves, kidneys and heart.

It’s important to learn how to use insulin safely and effectively.
